Riverfest 2010, August 14 at Witt - Riverbend Park. 

 

Pearisburg Farmers Market on Friday's 2-6pm on Wenonah.

The old Lil Macs store in Glen Lyn has reopened as Valero.  

There is also a salon with tanning beds in the same building. 

 

The Pearisburg Valero will reopen soon. 

 

Upgrades to Wenonah look great, and the crosswalk signals make funny chirping sounds.

 

County is replacing side walks and some paving behind the court house. 

 

McDonalds is coming to town at the Walmart entrance.

 

New River Grill is relocating to Pembroke (in the former River Life  building). 

 

The Grand Opening of NanoSonic is Sept.  13. 

 

Castle Rock Golf rates are changing (increasing) Aug. 19. 

 

There is  a new restaurant below Pippa Chapman's office (B's Cafe). 

 

Giles County is preparing a medical office building site known as Dogwood  Farms.  

 

The  soil is being used to close the Cumberland Park project in  Narrows.

 

Fabrics - N - Fellowship store has opened across from the Va Cooperative  Extension Service. 

 

The annual Newport Agricultural Fair, believed to be the oldest  agricultural fair in Virginia, takes place again on the weekend of  August  13 and 14.  Friday evening features some great entertainment, contests and  food concessions. Saturday is an all day Fair, with Judging of  Agricultural Entries, contests, exhibits, Food and Arts & Crafts  Concessions,  Children’s Games and activities and lots of entertainment. 

 

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the annual New River Clean-up  on  August  28th.  The event will start at 8:00 am, at the Witt Riverbend  Park. Call the Giles County Offices, 921-3434 for information.
